Closure of St James Medical Practice
We would like to inform our patients that St James Medical Practice will permanently close on Friday 27 November 2026.
Over the past year, we have engaged with patients and stakeholders regarding our proposal to consolidate services onto a single site. We are grateful to everyone who took the time to share their views, and we appreciate the understanding and support shown throughout this process.
Following the sale of the branch premises, services currently provided at St James Medical Practice will transfer permanently to Grosvenor Medical Centre, 23 Upper Grosvenor Road, Tunbridge Wells, Kent TN1 2DX from Monday 30 November 2026.
We understand that some patients may feel disappointed by this change, particularly those who have attended the branch surgery for many years. However, with the two sites located less than a mile apart, bringing our services together will help us make the best use of our staff and resources, maintain safe and sustainable services, and continue providing high-quality care for all our patients.
What this means for patients
- You will remain registered with the practice and do not need to take any action.
- All appointments and services will be provided from Grosvenor Medical Centre after 27 November.
- Telephone numbers, online services and methods of contacting the practice will remain unchanged.
- Your medical records will remain securely held by the practice as normal.
We recognise that changes like this can be difficult, and we would like to thank our patients for their continued support and understanding. Our team remains committed to providing accessible, high-quality care to all 14,000+ patients registered with the practice.

Where do I go for my appointment?
- All in-person appointments will take place at Grosvenor Medical Centre, 23 Upper Grosvenor Road, Tunbridge Wells, Kent TN1 2DX.
What about prescriptions?
- These can continue to be requested as they currently are. The most straightforward way to request repeat medications is by using the NHS app. Otherwise, patients can submit an Anima request or complete and submit a paper form at Grosvenor Medical Centre.

The practice is close to bus stops and the centre of Tunbridge Wells.
